AusBiotech welcomes the re-election of Dr Marthe D’Ombrain to its Board of Directors

24 Oct 2025

AusBiotech is pleased to announce the re-election of Dr Marthe D’Ombrain, Head of Global Research Innovation at CSL, to its Board of Directors. Dr D’Ombrain brings more than two decades of leadership and experience spanning research, commercialisation, and innovation across the life sciences sector, both in Australia and internationally.

AusBiotech Chair Dr James Campbell said: "We are delighted to welcome Dr D’Ombrain back to the AusBiotech Board. Her deep experience in global research innovation and proven leadership in advancing translational science will continue to strengthen our mission to champion the Australian life sciences sector.”

Marthe currently serves as the Executive Director and Head of Global Research Innovation at CSL and plays a key role in building and diversifying CSL’s global R&D portfolio. At CSL, Marthe championed the creation of an early-stage fund — the CSL Research Acceleration Initiative — that establishes partnerships between CSL and global research organisations and invests in promising discoveries to accelerate translation of innovative biotherapies to address unmet patient needs.

Marthe also played a key leadership role in the establishment of Jumar Bioincubator — an incubator for biotechnology startups, located in CSL’s global corporate headquarters in the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct.

AusBiotech CEO Rebekah Cassidy said: “Marthe’s vision and commitment to collaboration across academia and industry align perfectly with AusBiotech’s purpose. We look forward to her continued contributions as we advance the sector’s collective impact.

“Our Board has strong representation from across Australia, including leaders from some of Australia’s largest companies, directors from innovative SMEs, and voices from both research and industry — reflecting the strength and diversity of our sector.”

Dr Marthe D’Ombrain said: “I am thrilled to be re-elected to the AusBiotech Board, and I am grateful to our members for entrusting me with a second term. It has been a privilege to serve on the Board for the past three years.

“I am excited about the opportunities to further grow and advance Australia’s national life sciences agenda and to strengthen our collective contribution to positively impact the lives of patients both in Australia and around the globe.”
