Honorary Life Members of AusBiotech

Dr Anna Lavelle

​​​​Dr Lavelle handed over leadership of AusBiotech after more than 11 years of service to the Australian biotechnology industry and Australia’s peak industry body for the sector.

In 2015, Dr Lavelle was named among the 100 most influential people in global life sciences, and in 2016, was conferred a Life Membership in recognition of her excellent service to biotechnology and her meritorious service to AusBiotech.

Dr Martin Playne

​​​​​​Dr Playne was Chairman and Principal Executive Officer of the Australian Biotechnology Association (ABA), today known as AusBiotech, and is considered the founder of Australia’s peak industry body for biotechnology. Dr Playne began his career as a research scientist with CSIRO. He was an internationally recognised microbial biochemist and part of the global scientific community.
Dr Playne stepped down from the Board in 1990 and was named an Honorary Life Member of AusBiotech in 2000.

Dr Peter Riddles

President of the Australian Biotechnology Association (ABA) from 2000,

Dr Riddles oversaw the transition of the Australian Biotechnology Association (ABA) to AusBiotech, and was named the inaugural President of Australia’s peak industry body for biotechnology.

Dr Riddles retired as President in 2004 and recognised for his contribution through an Honorary Life Membership.
