Queensland to host AusBiotech International Conference 2026-27
24 Oct 2025
AusBiotech is delighted to announce the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland as the Host State Partners for the AusBiotech Invest and AusBiotech International Conference 2026 and 2027 — the premier events on the Asia-Pacific region's life sciences calendar.
The AusBiotech Invest and AusBiotech International Conferences are the flagship events of Australia’s biggest week in biotech, convening the full breadth of the life sciences ecosystem and connecting partners from around the world.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said today’s announcement was a strategic win for Queensland.
“Biomedical is a priority industry for the Crisafulli Government — and hosting the AusBiotech International Conference and AusBioInvest will help us showcase our strengths, attract global investment, strengthen our international partnerships, and grow our sovereign capability,” Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
“These events will be hosted in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, showcasing not only our cutting-edge biomedical capabilities but our enviable lifestyle as well.
“In the lead up to the 2032 Games and beyond, Queensland is the place to do business and we want as many biomedical industry leaders to bring their skills, staff and products to our State.
“The Crisafulli Government recently opened applications for its new $180.6 million Sovereign Industry Development Fund, which will invest in investment-ready projects across the biomedical, defence and biofuels industries in Queensland.
Andrew Powell MP, Minister for the Environment and Tourism and Minister for Science and Innovation, said: “Queensland’s health innovation ecosystem is thriving so we’re proud to support events like AusBiotech through Tourism and Events Queensland. These conferences elevate Australia’s reputation as a leader in research and commercialisation while also delivering strong economic outcomes for our state and its tourism sector.”
“I look forward to welcoming delegates from around the globe to Queensland and encourage everyone to stay a little longer and explore our incredible destinations, from the reef to the rainforest and beyond.”
Rebekah Cassidy, CEO AusBiotech said: “As the peak body representing and convening Australia’s thriving life sciences sector, AusBiotech is proud to unite our national innovation ecosystem and connect it with the world.
"Taking the AusBiotech Invest and AusBiotech International Conferences to Queensland for two consecutive years highlights Queensland’s focus on becoming a hub for life sciences innovation.”
"Queensland is home to a growing, world-class health innovation ecosystem with the capability to translate, develop and commercialise outstanding medical research outcomes into globally
competitive products and companies. The biomedical sector in Queensland already contributes an estimated $2.8 billion in annual gross value added to Queensland's economy”.
The AusBiotech and AusBiotech Invest Conferences were held in Victoria in 2024 and 2025, with this year’s Conference wrapping up this week.
"We sincerely thank the Victorian Government for its generous support as Host State Partner over the past two years. This partnership has been instrumental in helping us showcase Australia’s thriving biotechnology industry to the world and connecting the local ecosystem,” said Rebekah.
The AusBiotech International Conference is one of the largest biotechnology conferences in the southern hemisphere. Annually drawing delegates from more than 20 countries, uniting industry leaders, researchers, service providers, investors, and policymakers to exchange ideas, collaborate, and accelerate breakthroughs.
Australia's biggest week in biotech will be heading to the Gold Coast in 2026 and Brisbane in 2027.
