About Medtech

Medical technology (medtech) refers to medical devices and diagnostics, including in vitro diagnostics (IVDs). The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) describes medical devices as having therapeutic benefits, which either affect the body in a physical way or are used to measure or monitor functions of the body. Examples of medical devices include artificial hips, blood pressure monitors and orthodontics.

AusBiotech members working in the Australian medtech sector are represented and may be involved in the medtech work we do and facilitate, including committees, industry resources, advocacy, and events. Collectively, this work is called our AusMedtech programme. This work is undertaken to facilitate the commerical development of the Australian medical devices and diagnostics sector and to support those working in the medical technology industry.
